Lifestyle Tweaks to Feel Better

Hello Dear Reader,

This month’s issue is all about giving you options to make small tweaks in your lifestyle to feel better.

We start the first in a series of interviews with natural and organic skincare CEO’s – product lines that you’ve probably never heard of but definitely should. Our first interview is with Indie Lee, the owner of Indie Lee Skincare. Indie is a skincare entrepreneur who created her line of high-end, natural skincare products to be gentle, effective and sumptuous. Indie is a fierce advocate of toxin-free skincare, so she created her skincare line to be free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, DEA and TEA, artificial fragrances, and propylene glycol. Indie is generously giving away two of her favorites – the Coconut Citrus Body Scrub and Squalane Facial Oil — to two lucky subscribers this month. Oh, and did we mention that these aren’t sample sizes, but full sized products!

On our Nutrition page is a fresh and delicious salad from Sarah Britton. As you may remember from last month’s “10 Great Food Sites to Watch This Summer”, Sarah is a holistic nutritionist and vegetarian chef. If anyone can make you want to eat your veggies Sarah can! Sarah’s recipe is “for a crowd” so this is a great salad to take to pot lucks and cook-outs, and it is one of our “go to” favorites to serve on any hot summer day.

On the Mind, Body, Spirit page we interview Karuna Cayton. Karuna is a psychotherapist and author who spent 12 years studying with Buddhist masters and working with Tibetan refugees in Nepal. Karuna’s book will help you to see how we create our own problems and how Buddhist psychology can help us solve them.

In our Reading Room, we review one of our all-time favorite food books, “Main Street Vegan” by Victoria Moran. We love Victoria’s inspiring book because in it she takes the “how’s” of embracing a plant-based diet that seem to be so daunting for most of us, and coaches us in a way that makes the transition seem natural and effortless. Victoria has also gifted us two books for our giveaway this month!

And finally, on our DIY page, Indie Lee shares her favorite DIY recipe for a do it yourself Tea Tree Foot Scrub.

And last, a few housekeeping changes – we’ve change the format of our Health & Beauty page – we’d love to hear your feedback. And we’re changing the format of the Giveaways too – to enter for a giveaway, please subscribe to updates from Blikki.com. Welcome to our very first summer issue! We think we’ve out done ourselves again this month

In our Reading Room you will find our favorite magazines — any one of them would be a good beach read on warm summer day.

Last but not least, on our DIY page is a wonderful Lavender Sugar Body Scrub, a perfect relaxing scrub after a long day at the beach.

We start the issue this month on our Health and Beauty page with an article to help you navigate the toxic soup of non-organic hair care.

In our “Mind, Body, Spirit” section we review “The Good Energy Book” by Tess Whitehurst. Tess’ work has appeared such places as the AOL welcome page, MyDaily.com, the Whole Life Times blog, Llewellyn’s Annuals, and her own blog, Enchanting the Day. On the Bravo TV show “Flipping Out,” she was featured as Jeff Lewis’ feng shui consultant – and – she’s been a guest on morning shows on both Fox and NBC. Tess has also contributed an article for our Spirituality page. We’re very excited to have Tess as a contributor this month.

As always, on our Nutrition page there’s something yummy – this month, we feature a Sushi salad straight from the pages of “Clean Eating Magazine” that is deee-licous!

And last, but not least, we’ve added a Do It Yourself (DIY) page, a page dedicated to showing you how you can create safe, non-toxic products for yourself and your home. This month, we share an all-natural lip balm recipe from PrettyGossip.com.
